I don't know what you think but this season has gone by way too fast! We still have snow and there's more in the forecast. Even though our regular season is officially over we still have some red jackets heading out to post season races. Lets take a moment to wish them good luck.

This past weekend was an incredible display of the talent we have in our club. Our Club Championship races were exciting, intense and a pleasure to witness. All of our athletes did a great job! Last Weekend

Almost Over???????

It is really hard to believe that we are down to the last couple of weeks of the Jozo program! Where has the time gone? It seems like yesterday that we were just meeting again, or for the first time. Family Day Weekend:

Just a reminder, regular race programming throughout Family Day Weekend for the entire Jozo Weider Alpine Race Team – all ages (U10, U12, U14, U16, U18) on both Saturday and Sunday. Race timing and training schedule is unchanged. But it will be busy at Blue this week. So give yourself some extra time to get to & from the slopes. Also, please note that on Saturday we will use the three Weider Rooms as our meeting place / lunch room (not our usual Kandahar Room) due to the Mark McCoy presentation in the Weider Room in the afternoon. February Already???????

Wow....It's hard to believe that the year is already 1/12 over, and that we are more then 1/3 of the way through the race season!!!! It feels like we have just gotten started.

A few reminders:

• Don't forget to visit the volunteer's page on the website and sign up to help with your child races! We can't run the races without a full race crew.
• Friday training is a great addition to the program if you can make it. Just remember to e-mail Nikki with as much notice as possible so that the team can make sure they are prepared for the numbers If your child is participating in Friday training they are required to ride the chair lift independently.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Hard to believe that another week has flown by! Our coaches are hard at work, our managers are getting the team parties underway and our racers are looking fantastic!!!

The U10 2 day program is gearing up for their first race of the season. It happens this Saturday at 10AM at TSC. If you happen to be skiing the North slopes on Saturday - stop by and cheer on our little guys. The rivalry with TSC is always a fun race.

What a great start to the season! Thanks to everyone who has participated in making it such a success - Athletes, Parents and Volunteers! Well March Break has come and gone, but the snow is still here!! Blue Mountain is open and there are some great family events happening in the village and on the slopes.

 

Training at TSC

Training will be available this Saturday and Sunday at TSC for U12 and U14 athletes from 9am-3pm.  Coaches from both Jozo and TSC will be on hill.  This training is free of charge but all interested athletes should sign-up via email with Rob Crossan.  Athletes will be training Slalom and should meet at 9am outside the TSC club house where they will be provided visiting racer badges to allow access to the club house.

Mike Leishman is the current President of the Jozo Weider Parent Volunteer committee.  He has been president for the last 6 years and has given countless hours of his time, energy and talent.

 

Mike has always been a volunteer. He is one of those rare people who sees a need, and he fills it, giving his time, sometimes his money, and his energy to help make something better. About 6 years ago as he got more involved with Jozo as the parent of 2 daughters in the racing program, he saw areas where improvements to the Jozo program, and specifically to the Volunteer (Parent) Committee could be made. The Canning Cup has been reschedule from February 28 to February 27 and will start promptly at 10AM start on Smart Alec.  The Saturday group second House League race originally scheduled for February 27 has been rescheduled for March 12 with a 10AM start on Smart Alec.

This weekend the Jozo Weider Race program will follow our regular program schedule.

 

Family Day Pot Luck Apres - Sunday February 14th

When: 3pm to 6pm (immediately apres ski).
Where: Jozo Weider lunch room @ The Inn (by the fireplace)
What: Gather with your fellow Jozo members for a very casual apres-ski and some conviviality. Alcoholic beverages must be purchased from The Inn – but please feel free to bring a hors-d’ouvres for the adults and/or snacks for the kids.

This past weekend was another busy race weekend for our athletes. Our Sunday and Two day U10 racers finally had their first race. Thank you to all the parents for cheering on our little racers! Our U12+ racers that were representing Jozo this weekend also experienced some great results. We had over 22 athletes achieve top 10 results across the escarpment and surrounding area. Special congratulations to Zach Hyland (U14 D1) for a third place finish at Mansfield and qualifies him for Provincials! Congratulations as well to the U16 Jackals and Andrew Kendal (1st), Nicholas Swerhone (2nd) and Tess Leishman (2nd) for a fantastic race right here at Blue Mountain.

Friday Training - Important Message From the Race Office

If you are planning to send your child to Friday Training, please remember to register your child by emailing Nikki Wait by Thursday morning. This will help with scheduling and to ensure that there are enough coaches on hill for each age group. Please include your child's full name and age group (i.e. U10, U12) in your email to Nikki. Lots of Good News

After a very wet and miserable day on Sunday, winter finally arrived this week in Collingwood. The area has been hit with several intense snow squalls over the last several days bringing some much needed natural snow to the mountain. Things are looking white again!

IMPORTANT RACE CAMP NEWS

The Pre X-Mas Camp has been cancelled.

The X-Mas Camps for Park and Pipe skiers and boarders has been cancelled.

The X-Mas Camp for racers will still run with the possibility of starting with dryland and then hopefully moving to snow after a couple of days.
