Welcome to Family Day Weekend!

Family Day Schedule

This weekend the Jozo Weider Race program will follow our regular program schedule.

Family Day Pot Luck Apres - Sunday February 14th

When: 3pm to 6pm (immediately apres ski).
Where: Jozo Weider lunch room @ The Inn (by the fireplace)
What: Gather with your fellow Jozo members for a very casual apres-ski and some conviviality. Alcoholic beverages must be purchased from The Inn – but please feel free to bring a hors-d’ouvres for the adults and/or snacks for the kids.

The season is short and we don’t have many opportunities to gather as a full club. So we please join us and share a few laughs with the rest of the Jozo Weider Ski Club.

Hope to see everyone on Sunday!

U10 Highlights and Schedule Changes

On Sunday February 7th the 2 Day U8 and U10 groups took part in the Canning Cup Race with TSC. Our Jozo racers fared very well with 7 athletes in the top 10 and Gold in 3 of the 4 categories – U8 Boys, U10 Girls and U10 Boys. Big congratulations to our Jozo racers and coaches for not only great results but being great ambassadors of our club. Thanks to TSC for doing a wonderful job of hosting, and we look forward to hosting them for the 2nd race in this series.

The second Canning Cup race originally scheduled for February 28 has been rescheduled to February 27 to allow for a 10AM start. The Saturday U10 House League race scheduled on February 27 will be re-scheduled. More information will be coming soon once the new dates have been confirmed.

All U10 teams will now switch to GS training for the remaining part of the program.

Volunteer Sign-up

Please remember if your child is racing at Blue Mountain to sign-up for a volunteer position on the the volunteer sign-up page (http://www.jwracers.ca/teams/signup).  Remember to click the submit button once you have entered your name.  The Blasters, Supernova's and the 2 Day Snow Stars are all racing the weekend of February 20 and 21 at Blue Mountain and there are still lots of jobs to be filled.  Remember there should be one parent volunteer for every racer racing.

Friday Training

Friday training may be busier than normal this weekend as it is the Family Day Long Weekend and many school boards have a PA Day on Friday. Please remember to email Nikki Wait in the race office before noon on Thursday to register your child. You must include your child's full name and age group (i.e. U10, U12 etc.). It is vital that you register your child ahead of time so that the race office can ensure they have enough coaches on hill.

Please note that all athletes attending Friday training MUST be able to ride the chairlift alone. The coaches stay on the hill while athletes cycle up and down on their own.

Banquet

Last call for families to notify Dayle Leishman if you have purchased tickets for the March 5th banquet and have any food allergies. Please contact Dayle as soon as possible - provide the guest's name and the specific allergy.

Watch next week's newsletter for final details on the banquet venue and start time. Tickets and wristbands will be picked up at the door upon arrival.

Ladies Day - March 4th

Ladies Day is coming up on March 4th and tickets are selling fast!  Our theme this year is "Yin and Yang; Which One are You?"  It’s shaping up to be a memorable day with lots of fun, games and awesome prizes.  Stay tuned as we are organizing a kick-off party the evening before.  If you have a prize to donate i.e. tickets, trinkets, wine or gift cards to name just a few please email [email protected]. Childcare will be available during the day at the Inn (more details to follow) or there is Friday gate training for a little extra practice before Club Championships the following day.  Remember to register your child for Friday gate training well ahead of time to reserve their spot! Tickets are $135 and will be available from 11:30am to 12:30 at the Inn on Saturday and Sunday.

Clothing and Toques

All pre-ordered clothing has arrived and will be available for pick-up this weekend! Look for the table of volunteers by the fireplace in the Inn during lunch time to pick up your order.

We will be selling the leftover membership give-away red & black toques and long-sleeved Jozo shirts at the Family Day après party on Sunday February 14th at the Inn. Cash only.
