Welcome back everyone and congratulations on a successful start to the season. Our first weekend ran very smoothly and our AGM was well attended! Thank-you to everyone who took the time to join us. It is the participation by our members that keeps our club running smoothly. Don't forget to check our website often for updates, results and for the latest pics! If you have pictures you would like to share feel free to send them in, and we will post them on the site ASAP. Also, if you are looking to buy or sell items, we have a spot for that too!
Don't forget to fill out your membership forms. The money collected when you join is what pays for the awards, medals and trophy's that your child receives at the end of the season! Don't forget the cool "swag" that comes with your membership! Look for Laura and her team at lunch to sign up.
U12+ Banquet is March 3, 2018. Tickets will continue to be sold this weekend. Reserve your spots now. Tickets sell out fast. Ticket sales will continue at lunch.
Jozo “spirit” wear will be sold this weekend Saturday and Sunday from 11:30-12:30. Look for Alison and her team in the lunchroom. Samples will be available.
Emergency Contact Form
If you have not already done so, please go to the race office and fill out an emergency contact form. It is important that each family have one on file. If the administration needs to get in touch with you for any reason, they need to know the best way to do so!
When: All day Friday Feb 9th.
Optional: Thursday Feb 8th (evening).
Tickets go on sale this weekend - look for Ian Inch, Frank Gruszewski, Stefano Mastracci or David Grose for tickets. Cash, Visa, MC accepted.
If anyone would like to donate a prize please let the organizing committee know.
Friends are welcome

Ski Tuning Clinics!!!!!
Back by popular demand......Army's world cup ski tuning clinics! Take the opportunity to learn from the best of the best at no cost! Dave Armstrong is known around the world for his expertise and we are very fortunate to have him as part of our Jozo family and as one of our sponsors. Take this opportunity to learn from the master!!
Sat January 13 - 1pm - This clinic is for parents! We will be scheduling another clinic that will give the kids that want to learn (or parents who want them to learn) and opportunity to attend that won't interfere with their on snow training time! Stay tuned for future updates.
Each home race at Blue requires parent volunteers. Team managers for the team hosting our race will remind their respective team. But we are hopeful that one parent from each family will volunteer to be a gate judge, bib collector, coat runner, etc. Please be sure to visit www.jwracers.ca to sign up for a volunteer position for upcoming races.
There is going to be a 24h ski/snowboard relay at blue Feb.24-25, 2018 (noon to noon).
We want to enter a team or maybe two! All those interested in participating please meet at the blue mountain inn lunch room at 12:45pm Sat. Jan.13th.

Jozo Weider Masters
Who are we?
We are Jozo Weider alumni parents, alumni coaches, younger adults who aren’t quite ready to quit racing skiers, and so many others. There are as many reasons why adults have joined the Masters team as there are Masters on our team! Criteria: 18 years of age as of December 31, 2017 and up to whatever age you’d like to continue racing to (perhaps 90?).
Our Jozo Masters team is a team 25 strong for 2018. Our team registration sold out in the 3rd week of October this year, and others would have joined if we had had space. Most of our adult racers have been on our team for years, and that in and of itself speaks volumes for the fun, competitiveness, and friendships built that we all enjoy.
The Jozo Weider adult team has been very successful in the last number of years, consistently placing 3rdin the Interclub Masters league on the escarpment. We can’t seem to crack the highly competitive teams of Georgian Peaks and Craigleith, but we have bragging rights over TSC, DVG, Caledon, and Alpine. This is something to be proud of.
Several Jozo adults have consistently been named to the Canadian Alpine Masters team. There were 5 named to the team in 2017 and 3 in 2018. We have had anywhere from 2-8 named to the team over the last several years. In addition, 2 Jozo Masters are on the National Masters committee. Sharon Chadwick is the Ontario Masters Representative, and Wendy Fursey is the Past President of Canadian Alpine Masters.
Blue Mountain has more adult training options than any other club and the midweek training is in fact attended by adult racers from some of the private clubs as well. There is GS training on Tuesday mornings (9:00-11:30), Slalom training on Thursday mornings (9:00-11:30), and a mixture of training on Sunday afternoons (1-3pm). All training is on Calamity—where the kids also train. No special equipment is needed to get going—except shin guards, helmet guards, and pole guards for slalom training... yes you can learn to cross-block too—or not!
We host 1 home race each season, and this year’s race will be on January 20th, with a 10am start on Smart Alec. We would LOVE to have you come out and cheer our team on, see what Masters racing is all about, check out the wide variety of skill levels, and generally ring those cow bells!
We are YOUR team!
